In this role, you will support the tripartite mission by providing exceptional clinical care, educating future clinicians, and promoting advances in research. You will have the opportunity to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and support sustainable systems and protocols of care. In addition, you will function as an ambassador of the educational mission between North American institutions and Kenyan partners of AMPATH.

Your clinical responsibilities will be to provide supervision for registrars, medical officers, clinical officers, medical students, etc. and assist in providing high quality care for patients on the wards, clinics (general surgery and surgical oncology), and to western Kenya via outreach. Moi University (MU) - The teaching hospital for MU and the AMPATH Surgery Team Lead is Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital. As one of Kenya’s two referral hospitals, MTRH serves a population of approximately 24 million from western Kenya and neighboring countries. The MTRH Campus includes the AMPATH 
Centre as well as the Majaliwa Surgical Center and smaller operating theatres within the Riley Mother Baby Hospital, Shoe4Africa Children’s Hospital, and the new neurosurgical ward. In January 2020, MTRH partnered with the College of Surgeons of East, Central, and South Africa (COSECSA) to offer an alternative post-graduate training program in surgery (general, orthopedics, urology).
