IU Health kidney transplant specialists help adult and pediatric patients with end-stage kidney disease through every stage of the transplant experience. We perform a high volume of kidney transplants - from the routine to the most complex. We also have a living kidney donation program for individuals who wish to donate a kidney to someone they know or to someone anonymously. Transplant program highlights: performed kidney transplants for over 50 years at more than 200 transplants per year, comprising 73% of all kidney and kidney/pancreas transplants in the state in 2019. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Care for nephrology patients that are pre and/or post kidney, pancreas, or liver transplant

  • Community Hospital North: 48 beds—including 42 private suites
  • Community Hospital East: 16 beds --including 14 private rooms and 2 mother/baby suites

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary daytime attending physician at Community Hospital North, Community Hospital East, and Community Hospital Westfield, all Level III NICU's in the Indianapolis metro area, with potential opportunities to provide coverage at other NICUs managed by the Division.
  • Participate in the high-risk delivery service and provide consultation for high-risk obstetric patients in the Community Health Network.

Riley Children’s is consistently ranked among the top neonatology programs in the nation by U.S. News & World Report and ranks 6th out of 47 U.S. centers in patient complexity, according to the Children’s Hospital Neonatal Consortium. In addition, the Riley Maternity Tower houses a 45-bed Level III NICU, a dedicated labor and delivery unit, and one of the nation’s few obstetrical intensive care units. Riley is also home to the Heart Center NICU, which includes specialized beds for cardiac intensive care newborns, along with a newly added 12-bed Progressive Care NICU.
