Position Details

  • Predominately clinical with an academic component; includes teaching and research  
  • Provide care to a blend of patients across the entire spectrum of sleep medicine
  • Provide direct patient care to patients at potentially multiple IU Health sleep disorder centers
  • The practice is supported by board certified dental sleep medicine, behavioral sleep medicine and ENT specialists
  • Work closely with our world renowned Pediatric hospital staffed with pulmonary sleep specialists
  • Opportunity for critical care shifts
  • On-site home care company
  • Hypoglossal nerve stimulator implants performed at our centers
  • Team: Currently have 5 physicians and 1 Advanced Provider at the main location
  • Location: Primarily at a Sleep Medicine clinic in downtown Indianapolis; support other locations as needed
  • Average of 12 patients per week

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Sleep Medicine
  • Pulmonary and Critical Care training preferred
  • Prior experience in an academic institution is preferred
  • Strong interest in research and/or an established track record in research preferred

Location: Indianapolis, IN - Specialty: Surgery, Burn

The Department of Surgery at Indiana University is seeking applications for a full-time academic burn surgeon to join our Division of Plastic Surgery.  The Division currently includes 14 faculty members who provide a broad array of services in order to provide the highest quality care for patients.   Academic appointment and salary are commensurate with candidate’s experience.

The burn programs at Eskenazi and Riley Hospitals are nationally recognized and verified by the American Burn Association.  The burn program features state-of-the-art resources and support for providing excellence in clinical care to both pediatric and adult patients.

Educational Requirements

Prospective candidates must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in General Surgery or Plastic Surgery with substantial burn experience with burn fellowship training required. In addition, being Board Certified/Board Eligible in Surgical Critical Care is considered a strength. Chosen candidates must either have a current Indiana Medical License or be eligible for application.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal applicant will have a focused and demonstrated interest in burn surgery and managing critically ill burn patients. Candidates may be at the assistant, associate or full professor rank. Responsibilities will include providing patient care, supervising residents and fellows, and sharing call on the burn service.  This position also includes the potential for professional development through teaching and/or research.

Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health is seeking a general Pediatric Surgeon to join our experienced team who work well together and strive for continual advancement of the profession and improved patient outcomes. 

Pediatric surgeons at Riley at IU Health are experienced in performing the full spectrum of pediatric surgery. With eight board certified ed pediatric surgeons, the team provides 24/7, on-site surgical coverage allowing for timely evaluation of children with emergent and urgent surgical conditions. Caring for children of all ages, our surgeons, anesthesiologists and clinical team members are committed to advancing techniques for improved recovery after surgery and limiting opioid use. We participate in multidisciplinary teams and coordinate seamless care for even the most complex patients. In addition, Riley Pediatric Surgery continues to expand the use of minimally invasive surgical techniques, including thoracoscopy, laparoscopy and robotic surgery, and therapeutic interventions, such as extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). 

The Riley at IU Health surgery team leads Indiana’s only pediatric Level I Trauma Center, which serves more than 1,600 patients each year.  Our multidisciplinary trauma team, takes rapid and decisive action to provide effective treatment in critical situations when seconds matter. With four trauma bays in the emergency department and an operating room always available for incoming critical cases, our trauma services team is ready for any scenario. 

The surgical team at Riley directs many clinical and basic science research programs aimed at improving surgical quality, reducing lengths of stay and achieving superior surgical outcomes. In addition, our surgical team participates in a multi-institutional consortium that shares clinical resources to allow wider investigation among larger patient populations. Our surgeons are also active in designing new clinical care pathways and conducting research to continually advance pediatric surgery at Riley Children's Health and pediatric hospitals nationwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide general pediatric sugery clinical care & coverage to pediatric trauma services
  • Academic portion of the position allows for both given interest of the candidate & direction of the division

The Department of Neurological Surgery at Indiana University Health, Indiana University School of Medicine and Riley Children's Hospital is seeking a Chief for the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery. The Division Chief must be prepared to lead collaborative multi-disciplinary clinical, education and research efforts in all aspects of pediatric neurosurgery.  Strategic initiatives are ongoing in epilepsy and neurooncology for Riley Children's Hospital and the newly formed IU Neuroscience Institute will be supportive of growth and innovation in these and several other areas.

Leadership:

  • Provide oversight, guidance and mentorship of the pediatric neurosurgical faculty for clinical quality, professional development and scientific rigor
  • Work with Neuroscience Institute leadership and the Departmental Chair to grow programs and conduct outreach in the state and the region
  • Potential for leadership roles in hospital advisory positions and committees
  • Potential for joint appointment as Residency Program Director and/or Vice-Chair for Education for the Department or Vice-Chair for Quality, should the candidate have the requisite qualifications and interest

Responsibilities:

  • Bring professionals of disparate backgrounds together to build upon high-quality existing programs
  • Provide a sustained vision for future growth

Qualifications:

  • Experienced pediatric neurosurgeons only; the successful candidate will be at the current academic rank of Professor or eligible for such promotion
  • Academic productivity in the form of ongoing research funding and a track record of consistent high-level publications is sought 
  • Subspecialty focus in fetal surgery, spinal deformity, peripheral nerve, neurovascular neurosurgery or neurooncology is of interest but not required
  • Strong spirit of service and commitment to patient-centered care, transparency, cooperativity, flexibility and leadership
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Excellence in surgical training and education
  • Completion of neurological surgery residency and pediatric neurosurgery fellowship accredited by The Accreditation Council for Pediatric Neurosurgical Fellowships (ACPNF) 
  • Board Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery
  • Additional certification in pediatric neurosurgery by The American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS) and The American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgery (ABPNS) 
  • Physician MD/DO licensed or eligible in Indiana

  • The position will primarily focus on gender affirmation plastic surgery as well as general plastic and reconstructive surgery
  • Surgical scope includes, but is not limited to, vaginoplasty, phalloplasty, metoidioplasty, masculinizing & feminizing chest & facial surgery. Microsurgery skills desirable and training in gender affirmation surgery preferred
  • This person must have an interest in serving the transgender community
  • Candidates must be interested in educating residents and fellows and have an interest in research and administration
