Make a difference in the lives of our kids and their families at the only nationally ranked pediatric institution in the state, Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, Indiana!  We are seeking a board certified/eligible adolescent medicine physician to join our collaborative team and Indiana University School of Medicine faculty member to provide patient care and serve as a clinician educator.  Riley at IU Health Adolescent Medicine is one of the largest and most active divisions of its kind in the nation for clinical care, research and training.  Dedicated to the care and treatment of young people up to age 21, our fellowship-trained physicians, experienced in caring for the special needs of teenagers and young adults, treat a variety of adolescent health conditions, from eating disorders and reproductive health to sports injuries.  Enjoy being a part of a larger multidisciplinary practice as the adolescent medicine team routinely works with other Riley specialties, including cardiology, hematology, oncology, child development, diabetes, endocrinology, and pediatric/adolescent gynecology. 

Position Details:

The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Riley Hospital for Children is the only nationally ranked pediatric hematology/oncology program in the state of Indiana with the only pediatric stem cell transplant program and the only site offering pediatric CAR T-Cell therapy. A leader in clinical care, teaching, research and advocacy in pediatric respiratory medicine, Riley at IU Health Pulmonology, Allergy and Sleep Medicine is ranked among the top 20 pediatric pulmonology programs in the nation by U.S. News World & Report.  The only pediatric center in Indiana, Riley's program is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.  With 16 beds in two locations, our program includes five board certified sleep medicine physicians, two behavioral sleep psychologists, a team of respiratory therapists and registered polysomnographic technologists. Our numerous, exceptional programs - Cystic Fibrosis, Asthma, Pulmonary Hypertension, Chronic Ventilation, Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia, Aerodigestive - combine expertise with care coordination to treat complex conditions.

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Indiana University School of Medicine and Indiana University Health Physicians invites applications for the position of Chief of Clinical Physics located in downtown Indianapolis.

This is a full-time clinical faculty position in clinical radiation therapy physics.

A Masters or PhD in medical physics or related discipline is required, in addition to a minimum of five years of clinical experience in radiation oncology physics. Prior managerial experience in a clinical setting is highly desired.  The candidate must be qualified to practice as a Physicist in Radiation Oncology and be certified by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiological Physics.  The position offers competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits packages.

The position reports to the Vice Chair of Physics. Candidate will lead a team of physicists and dosimetrists to provide physics support clinical efforts, and will participate in program, facility, and technology development. The candidate will perform the daily duties of a clinical medical physicist and will participate in clinical physics research projects with students and staff. He/she will also participate in medical physics professional activities, to include continuing education and maintenance of certification. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to education/training of medical and medical physics residents, and students as part of the mission of the School of Medicine at Indiana University.

This position is responsible for overseeing clinical physics services for 5 hospital based radiation oncology departments and 1 outpatient facility. Services include EBRT/SBRT, brachytherapy, GammaKnife SRS, TBI/TMI, IORT. The candidate will also:

  • Develop project plans and management for new radiation oncology facilities and services including shielding design and construction
  • Act as direct contact with vendors to negotiate equipment purchases for multiple sites, and manage hardware and software service contracts for treatment planning and delivery, QA equipment, and instrumentation
  • Oversee regulatory compliance with Indiana State Department of Health for radiation producing machines, and liaise with IU Radiation Safety for NRC compliance of radioactive materials broad scope license
  • Maintain/establish physics aspects of Oncology Practice Accreditation and coordinate efforts with dosimetry/therapy/nursing/RO/admin etc.
  • Participate in Radiation Safety and radioactive drug research meetings for Indiana University School of Medicine and IU Health, and lead the CQI effort in the department.
  • Manage physics remote and physical coverage schedules

  • Radiation Oncology faculty includes 13 clinical physicists, 14 radiation oncologists and 3 full-time researchers. Educational programs in the Department of Radiation Oncology include, a medical residency program, and a radiation therapy Bachelor of Science degree program.
