Position Details/Schedule:

Full-time, No Call/No Rotating.  About 80% Outpatient; 20% Inpatient

Shifts would be M-F, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST/EDT.

Building largest outpatient operations, includes all subspecialties, in this academic hub

Key Responsibilities:

The selected APP will see new and returning patients in the office. The returning patients will vary in diagnosis, but the new patient population this position will see will primarily be patients suffering from headache-related symptoms. Key responsibilities include patient evaluation, noting patient progress, providing chartomg and notes to physician.

Qualifications:

If new graduate, must have relevant RN experience; Master’s Degree required. Neurology rotations strongly preferred.  

Designations: Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Physician Assistants are welcome to apply

Procedures:

Laceration repair, chest tube removal, others as required

Patient Population:

Primarily adults with headaches, epilepsy, and Alzheimer's disease.

  • Manage phone calls, discharge coordination
  • Consult opportunities as well

  • Procedures include suture/staple removal, chest tube removal, mediastinal tube management/removal, open sternal wound dressing change, central line management, plurovac changes, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree required
  • If no experience, clinical rotations in surgery required
  • Previous ICU experience preferred

Qualifications essential for this position: Experience with cardiac patients (would consider candidates with adult and/or peds experience). Experience with pediatric and /or neonatal cardiac patients in an ICU setting preferred; would also note that an NP with an acute care certificate would be preferred, as this is the direction the organization is going. Current NPs without this grad school acute care certificate will likely need to go back to school to get certified.

IU Health Physicians has an opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner to join their busy Vascular Surgery team at IU Health Methodist Hospital located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Employment opportunity details:

  • Practice will consider new graduate NPs as well as those with APP experience
  • 100% Inpatient
  • Schedule:  Four 10 hour shifts
  • No call, nights, weekends or holidays
  • Patient population:  Vascular surgery patients of all ages
  • Responsibilities: inpatient floor care, to include initial evaluation of consults, discharge planning and implementation, and timely transition of patient from acute to non-acute care

  • Currently:  8 Physicians and 2 Advanced Providers, plus individual selected for this role 
  • Ideal candidate will be professional, a strong communicator, have ability to work independently and collaboratively, must be very patient-centric with time and care of patients and place a high emphasis on productivity and efficiency
  • Inpatient experience required. PV or CV surgery preferred.

NP Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Requires Masters or Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP), and current valid Indiana State RN license.
  • Successful completion of nurse practitioner certification required.
  • Current Indiana and federal DEA as appropriate required.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Requires knowledge and experience in assessment; pharmacotherapy; lab tests and medications.
  • Clinical expertise as applicable to individual area.
  • Requires ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when providing supervision and performing administrative tasks, direct patient care, and adhering to ethical professional standards.
  • Requires the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • May require the ability to handle pressure of life threatening situations.
