Position Details:

  • The Medical Director is a physician that is actively practicing onsite.
  • Functions as the organization’s clinical leader. The Medical Director provides guidance, leadership, and oversight to the staff and will be responsible for the clinical staff including staffing models, medical staff hiring, orientation, scheduling, and on-going training and company educational programs.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of clinical and administrative policies and procedures.
  • Actively participates in and oversees the quality assurance, compliance, and utilization review programs.

  • Aides the patients in their right to be informed and to participate in making decisions in all aspects of their medical care and treatment and initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, including patient and family instruction. Ensures that all aspects of care have respect for personal values and beliefs, and focuses on the individual needs of each patient.
  • Elicits and reviews information about patient’s medical history.
  • Orders or executes various tests, analyses, results, reports and diagnostic images to provide information on patient’s condition in a timely manner to determine appropriate treatment and follow up.
  • Administers or prescribes treatments and medications appropriate for patient condition.
  • Promotes health by educational instruction as well as advising patients concerning diet, hygiene, and methods for prevention of disease.

Indiana University Health Fort Wayne (IUHFW) is seeking board certified or board eligible Gastroenterologist(s) for an exciting and foundational role in a newly developing limb of the largest healthcare system in the state. IUHFW is building a primary care base at three sites in Fort Wayne, on track to have 20 employed primary care physicians by the end of 2020.  As a part of our strategic development in northeast Indiana, we will open a new build ambulatory surgery center with designated  endoscopy suites in southwest Fort Wayne in 2020.   • 10% inpatient / 90% outpatient
  • Desired candidate will have expertise in clinical genetics
  • Academic opportunity
  • Interest in care and treatment of both children and adults with genetic disorders
  • Responsibilities include establish protocols for precision medical practice for evaluations, laboratory practice and therapeutic intervention, skin biopsies, venipuncture, etc.
  • Average 15-20 patients per week in office
  • Services provided at IU Health University and Methodist Hospitals as well as Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health
