Location: Indianapolis, IN - Specialty: Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric

The Director - Advanced Providers will provide clinical and operational support to Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) across one of more Service Lines. Under the direction of Senior Leadership, this leader plans and directs the clinical activities for Advanced Practice Providers within the Department of Pediatrics.

The Director oversees adherence to organizational policies and state and federal regulations, supervises APPs and other assigned team members, and directs daily operations including staffing, quality improvement, customer service, and patient access. The Director works collaboratively with Senior Leadership to ensure top scope APP utilization with responsibility for achieving operational and financial performance metrics. The Director also maintains their own clinical practice and competency, actively participating in direct patient care and teaching as required. 

Key Relationships

Reports to: Regional Director-Advanced Practice Provider, IMR

Collaborate with the Department of Pediatrics and APPs practicing within the department. This Director will oversee APP leaders and APP team members. 

Candidate Qualifications

  • Maintains license and board certification within the state of Indiana
  • Maintains prescriptive authority if required in practice setting
  • Requires a masters prepared advanced practice degree such as Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Nurse Specialist, or equivalent
  • minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible related work experience in a clinical setting with 3 to 5 years of concurrent management or informal leadership experience
  • Ability to occasionally lift/move/carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs

  • New grads must have experience in labor and delivery preferred and experience in inserting IUD and implants

IU Health Palliative Care is focused on improving quality of life while dealing with a serious illness and providing personalized care that is focused on the patient, not just their disease, supporting care goals through pain and symptom management, spiritual and psychosocial counseling and assistance in advance care planning.  We aim to support the patient and their loved ones.

Position Details:

  • This is a PRN hybrid opportunity with limited on-site requirements
  • Provide clinical consults with patient/family members at the Bloomington, Indiana Hospice House (rounding within 24 hours of admission)
  • 48-hour on-call (at home/on phone) coverage - Saturday 8:00am to Monday 8:00am
  • Key responsibilities include: end of life care, medication management, H&P/clinical notes and symptom control
  • Team includes one Physician and one Advanced Practice Provider

Qualifications:

  • Must hold either ACNP, AGNP or FNP certifications
  • APP Experience in Palliative or Hospice Care highly preferred
