Indiana University Health Virtual Behavioral Health is looking to add a part-time, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to its staff in Indianapolis. The Behavioral Health Hub offers 24/7 access to providers, social workers and therapists for our IU Health hospitals throughout the state. As part of IU Health's strategic plan to improve the health of Hoosiers by focusing on mental health, we serve our hospitals and provide timely access to behavioral health care needs.

  • Responsibilities include: assessment and diagnosis of adult patients with behavioral health needs, management of medications, providing a supportive, therapeutic environment, ordering appropriate labs/tests, referring and assisting with placement of patients in acute settings, such as inpatient behavioral health treatment, as needed

Qualifications:

  • BE/BC PMHNP preferred
  • BE/BC FNP with previous experience in behavioral health either in nursing or provider role, will be considered

Opportunity Details

  • Full-time (40 hours)
  • Day shift 
  • Rotating every 3rd weekend 
  • 90% inpatient work,10% outpatient
  • Work directly with 10 physicians and 12 APPs 
  • Acute care surgery patients comprised of emergency general surgery, trauma, and surgical critical care patients.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate care of patients and facilitate movement through the system
  • Procedures include intubations, chest tube insertions, central and arterial line insertions

Qualifications

  • Master's degree required
  • ACNP or PA certification required
  • Critical care experience is required
