  • No call or rotating schedule at present
  • 50% each Inpatient and Outpatient
  • Key Responsibilities: Performs pre-anesthetic prep & eval, anesthesia induction, maintenance & emergence; post-anesthesia care and peri-anesthetic & clinical support functions under the direction of an anesthesiologist.
  • Procedures:  IV Placement, Airway Management, Arterial & Central Cath Placement, General & Regional Anesthesia, Neuraxial Anesthesia
  • Is there the possibility of academics/ research?  Yes.
  • Team:  80 physicians; 23 APPs in practice
  • Patient Volume:  Average 3 to 4 per day
  • Patient Population:  ENT, Urology, general, hepatobiliary, GI, Cancer, OB GYN, transplant, thoracic, orthopedic, plastics, and high acuity care.
  • Unique selling points:  Participation in the growth of the anesthetist profession at the institution and beyond (student training)

  • Surgical call from home for cases every 7th weekend and one weeknight every 2 weeks.
  • 85% inpatient, 15% outpatient
  • Heart and lung transplant patients, ventricular assist device patients, and ECMO patients

Key Responsibilities:

  • CV Transplant - involves inpatient rounding in the ICU and step down unit.
  • Care of patients on mechanical circulatory support devices such as ECMO and Ventricular Assist Devices, lung and heart transplant patients, chest tube management, removal of temporary pacing wires, etc. 
  • Consults, admission H&Ps.
  •  First assisting in surgery for this patient population. 
  • Occasional outpatient duties in the Advance Heart & Lung Clinic. 

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree Required
  • Must be an ACNP or PA
  • If no experience, clinical rotation in surgery preferred.
  • Position requires inpatient rounding and surgical first assisting responsibilities for a surgical practice. 
  • Individual sought must have great attention to detail, be incredibly thorough and be able to keep up with the quick pace of assessment and documentation with a very critical patient population.
  • Individual also will be involved in lots of multi-tasking, that will involve inpatient rounding in the ICU and step down unit.

    • Preventive education, H&Ps, assessments, and treatment plan development
