The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology, Allergy and Sleep Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine / Riley Hospital for Children is recruiting for a board-certified/ board-eligible allergist to join the team in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Committed to clinical excellence, Riley's allergy program is led by three pediatric allergy physicians and two nurse practitioners.  Our team participates in multidisciplinary programs such as the Gastrointestinal Digestive Disease Program and the High-Risk Ashthma Program.  The allergy program at Riley conducts 200 oral food challenges each year - more than any other facility in the state.  We are also designated as a center of excellence by the Food Allergy Research and Education Network.  Allergy physicians at Riley are involved in trials of food immunotherapy and in nationally recognized studies of the developing airway microbiome.  A leader in clinical care, teaching, research and advocacy in pediatric respiratory medicine, Riley at IU Health Pulmonology, Allergy and Sleep Medicine is ranked among the top 20 pediatric pulmonology programs in the nation by U.S. News World & Report.

For 2019, we performed 11,882 outpatient cardiology visits and provided 17,938 echocardiogram interpretations. Riley Hospital for Children is looking to grow our program, ranked second in the country by U.S. News & World Report, by addiing a Pediatric Urologist to the team.  Skilled in complex open, endoscopic and robotic urologic surgery, Riley urology surgeons specialize in treating conditions of the pediatric urinary tract (kidneys, ureter, bladder) and genitalia. All of our surgeons are fellowship trained and board certified in pediatric urology and are recognized leaders in the field.

Known for expertise in complex genital reconstruction, Riley at IU Health is designated as a Center of Surgical Excellence for surgical reconstruction for children born with congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Additionally, we are designated by the Association for the Bladder Exstrophy Community as one of 10 international Centers of Excellence for the care of children with bladder exstrophy.  Riley at IU Health has organized multidisciplinary clinics with specialists to assist in managing complex patients, including comprehensive programs to care for patients with spina bifida, stones, prenatal urologic anomalies and differences in sexual development. We are internationally recognized for our transitional program, ensuring that children’s urologic needs are cared for appropriately as they become adults. The Riley Transitional Urology Clinic provides specialized services for patients requiring lifelong care and follow-up after surgery, and is one of only two such clinical programs in the nation based in a children’s hospital.

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Indiana University School of Medicine has an opening for Chief of Clinical Physics position in downtown Indianapolis. This is a full-time clinical faculty position in clinical radiation therapy physics.

A Masters or PhD in medical physics or related discipline is required, in addition to a minimum of five years of clinical experience in radiation oncology physics. Prior managerial experience in a clinical setting is highly desired.  The candidate must be qualified to practice as a Physicist in Radiation Oncology and be certified by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiological Physics.

The position reports to the Vice Chair of Physics. Candidate will lead a team of physicists and dosimetrists to provide physics support clinical efforts, and will participate in program, facility, and technology development. The candidate will perform the daily duties of a clinical medical physicist and participate in clinical physics research projects with students and staff. He/she will also participate in medical physics professional activities, to include continuing education and maintenance of certification. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to education/training of medical and medical physics residents, and students/

This position is responsible for overseeing clinical physics services for 5 hospital based radiation oncology departments and 1 outpatient facility. Services include EBRT/SBRT, brachytherapy, GammaKnife SRS, TBI/TMI, IORT. The candidate will also:

  • Develop project plans and management for new radiation oncology facilities and services including shielding design and construction
  • Act as direct contact with vendors to negotiate equipment purchases, and manage hardware and software service contracts for treatment planning and delivery, QA equipment, and instrumentation
  • Oversee regulatory compliance with Indiana State Department of Health for radiation producing machines, and liaise with IU Radiation Safety for NRC compliance of radioactive materials broad scope license
  • Maintain/establish physics aspects of Oncology Practice Accreditation and coordinate efforts with dosimetry/therapy/nursing/RO/admin etc.
  • Participate in Radiation Safety and radioactive drug research meetings for IU School of Medicine, and lead the department's CQI effort 
  • Manage physics remote and physical coverage schedules

About the department:

  • IU's Radiation Oncology faculty includes 13 clinical physicists, 14 radiation oncologists and 3 full-time researchers. Educational programs include a residency program and a radiation therapy B.S. degree program.
