Riley Children's Health is looking for a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Specialist, or Physician Assistant to join our Pediatric Palliative Care team at the top children's hospital in the state! 

Position Details:

  • Full time
  • Monday-Friday
    • 8am-4:30pm
  • No call or weekend requirements
  • 75% inpatient, 25% outpatient
    • Riley Hospital and Riley Outpatient Center
  • Collaborative and interdisciplinary team comprise of 4 physicians, 2 advanced practice providers, social workers, a nurse navigator, and a senior administraitive assistant
  • Patient population: NICU, PICU (non oncology), Complex Care, Cerebral Palsy/Neurodevelopmental Diagnoses

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Review patient charts to triage patients to be seen by palliative care each day/week.
  • Determine appropriate patient follow-up plan and communicate this plan to Administrative Assistant.
  •  Round on inpatients as determined by identified need.  APRNs may see new consults or follow-up appointments as needed by the team.
  •  Conduct outpatient visits in outpatient clinics or via virtual visits.  APRNs may see new consults or follow-up appointments as needed by the team.
  • Participate and/or lead family care conferences.
  • Available to provide in-home hospice visits as needed, if lives within 1 hour radius of hospital
  •  Staff patient encounters with attending physician, as needed.
  •  Conduct thorough patient assessment of pain and other symptoms as appropriate per the patient and develop a treatment plan.  Communicate this assessment and plan with the appropriate medical teams and timely documentation in the patient’s EMR.
  •  Conduct patient goals of care conversations with patient and/or family.  Communicates these goals with the appropriate medical teams and timely documentation in the patient’s EMR.
  • Order any pertinent laboratory or diagnostic tests to monitor prescribed medications.
  •  Initiate hospice referrals.
  • Provide patient and family education on palliative care diagnoses or end of life management.
  • Provide any necessary patient updates to the patient’s primary provider or specialists, as appropriate.
  • Provide ongoing patient and family support via in-person, virtual visits, or phone call follow-up.

Qualifications:

  • PNP, PA, or CNS certification required
  • Open to new graduates
  • Experience with hospice and/or end of life care preferred

Position Details:

  • Full Time
    • 12 or 24-hour shifts 
    • Rotating nights/weekends/holidays
    • No call
    • 100% inpatient
  • Patient population: Pregnant women seeking urgent care for obstetrical and possibly non-obstetrical needs. All Gestational ages are seen through the OBED. Both routine and high-risk patients. 
  • Expected patient volume in hospital: 15-20 patients per 24 hour shift
  • Work directly with 5-7 physicians and 1-2 APPs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing patients at any Gestational age in the OBED; evaluating, diagnosing, treating and guiding patient care for pregnancy or non-pregnancy related needs.
  • A midwife in OBED will also support with labor, births, postpartum rounds, etc. as needed and when available (secondary role to OBED).
  • A collaborative approach to care with The Laborist team.
  • The Laborist are assuming a higher volume of patients due to provider departures in groups outside of IU Health. 

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree Required 
  • Must be PA, ACNP, FNP, WHNP or CNM Certified 
  • APP experience in women's health or OB setting- preferably in a High-Risk OB facility. 
  • At least 1-2 years APP experience providing care to pregnant and postpartum patients preferred
