Position Details:

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40-hour work week

  • Key Responsibilities/Anesthetist: Perform pre-anesthetic preparation & evaluation, anesthesia induction, maintenance & emergence; pre- and post-anesthesia care & clinical support, functioning under the direction of an anesthesiologist.
  • Key Responsibilities/Assistant CAA Program Director: recommends changes in curriculum, policy, and program requirements.  Develops, implements, and modifies curriculum.  Assists Program Director in managing education program.  Assists with recruitment and evaluation of clinical preceptors.  Supports program compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Procedures:  IV Placement, Airway Management, Arterial & Central Cath Placement, General & Regional Anesthesia, Neuraxial Anesthesia
  • Is there the possibility of academics/ research?  Yes.
  • Team:  80 physicians; 23 APPs in practice
  • Patient Volume:  Average 3 to 4 per day

  •  All cardiopulmonary bypass cases are done with physician anesthesia.  Anesthesia for cardiac cases including cardiopulmonary bypass, thoracotomies, and vascular cases including Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms and Aortic Endograft procedures. Familiarity with Transesophageal Echocardiography.  Average Case Load,  1 open heart case per day, or 1-2 vascular cases/Thoracotomies per day.  Occasionally there can be a second or third case.  Cases usually done between 3-5 PM. Board Certification, ACLS, BLS, TEE credentials or grandfathering if TEE skills are up to date.
  • Excellent, modern equipment includes: glidescopes and Sonosite ultrasound machines for regional anesthesia
  • Peripheral nerve blocks a plus
